The posts stoked widespread panic, claiming that global sea levels would rise by two feet within weeks as a consequence of the depicted event.

GenZwire performed forensic reverse-image verification and keyframe analysis on the footage. The video does not show Antarctica at all, nor does it depict an anomalous single-day collapse.

The clip is re-edited footage captured in July 2021 by a documentary crew at the Jakobshavn Glacier in western Greenland, depicting normal seasonal ice shelf calving. The video was sped up 300 percent to exaggerate the visual velocity.

Scientists with the International Thwaites Glacier Collaboration confirmed that satellite synthetic aperture radar shows no catastrophic structural collapse matching the video's claims.
