Inside, hundreds of college students and young creatives have gathered not for the latest $250 million comic book tentpole, but for a 1974 restored print of a Taiwanese drama.
"We spend our entire working lives staring at personalized algorithmic feeds designed to maximize retention," says culture critic Alex Rivera. "Cinema is the antithesis of that: it asks you to surrender your control for two hours in a dark room with strangers."
